Easy and the best way to eat choko.
This is a family recipe – I remember eating this as a kid every winter when we had a choko vine. It’s so easy to make that I find time to make it as a snack, even on busy nights.
Never tried Choko? Try this!
Choko can be a boring vegetable, but making it this way it enhances the flavor.
Recipe
Choko (Chayote)
Margarine (or Butter for Non-Vegan Version) to taste
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
If you never used a choko before, this is what it looks. Like two hands clasped together. The flesh is crispy and fresh inside.
Cut your choko (chayote) in half.
Choko can be slimy, so run them under cold water while you peel.
Remove the unappetizing seeds and membrane.
Put your choko in cold water in a pot and boil them for 20-30 minutes, until soft.
It should look translucent when soft.
Cut a crisscross into the choko. It should cut nice and easy.
Add as much margarine or butter as you like.
Sprinkle salt and pepper on top. Enjoy!
