Lovable Lambs Fry and Bacon

Updated: Oct 15, 2022

Even if you’ve never heard or eaten lamb’s fry before, you’d certainly love this recipe!

I was shown this recipe from my dad, who learnt it from his mother and grandmother. An rustic dish that does not disappoint. If you never had lamb’s fry before or too scared to try, try this recipe.

I make this often. I always look forward to the umami that bursts out of the juicy meat.

It's a good winter dish with more garnishes, but can also be eaten as a light lunch in summer. It’s also incredibly easy to make. You can have it with bread or its wholesome on its own. If you’re wondering what a lamb’s fry is, it's the liver of a lamb. It doesn't sound appetising, but trust me, it is delicious cooked this way.

Recipe

Makes 2-4 Serves

Ingredients

1/2 Cup of Flour

220 Grams Bacon about 2 Rashers (Slices)

280 Grams Lambs Fry

150 Grams Brown Onion (Roughly One Large Brown Onion)

2 Tomatoes Cut into Eight Pieces (Six Depending on the Size)

Butter (You will need a fair bit)

Salt to Taste

Pepper to Taste

Worcestershire Sauce to Taste

Directions

Slice your tomatoes into six or eight pieces, depending on their sizes.

Slice your onion.

Roughly slice your bacon.

Thinly slice your lamb’s fry diagonally.

Put your flour in a freezer bag.

Put in your lambs fry.

Shake until fully coated.

Add some butter on a pan.

Once hot and melted, add your lamb’s fry.

You want to turn it a few times and make sure it doesn't stick. Also, add more butter if it starts to stick.

Remove your lamb’s fry once brown and cooked through. Set aside.

Add some more butter. Melt it.

Add your tomatoes.

Cook them until they start to turn brown and almost cooked through. They will be soft.

Set the tomatoes aside with the lambs fry. Add more butter and melt it.

Add your onion.

Cook them until sautéed. They will start to brown up and become translucent.

Set your onions aside. Add more butter.

Add your bacon.

Cook it however you like it. I like mine slightly crispy.

Add your tomatoes, onion and lambs fry, and also more butter if needed. (Yum!)

Cook for a minute, tossing to mix.

Once fully combined and cooked, it’s ready to eat.

Plate it whatever you like, adding salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce to taste. Enjoy!
