A great wholesome dish to feed the whole family.
Back in the old days before, Chinese cuisine was well known in Australia, they called this chow mien mince back in the depression days, also knows as a version of gravy mince or savoury mince. You can serve it with rice, bread or mash potato. You can use frozen of fresh vegetables.
The best savoury mince you ever had!
This was a hearty meal my mum used to make that got from my grandmother. The small amount of ingredients make this dish special and flavoursome. It was called chow mien because of the noodles and curry flavour, even though it is an Indian yellow curry powder and an instant chicken noodle soup packet. Besides from the wrong facts, it's a delicious dish.

Gravy mix
3 Tablespoons Traditional Gravy Mix
5 table water
Directions
Slice the fresh veggies. Add all the vegetables in a bowl, ready to cook.
This is the instant chicken noodle soup I use.
This is the curry powder I use.
In a jug or bowl, make the gravy mix.
In your fry pan, heat your oil on medium heat.
Add your mince and stir to break it apart.
Cook your mince for about 5 minutes until it's brown.
Add your vegetables and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook your vegetables until they start to wilt about a half to three quarters cooked through.
Add your stock or water, instant chicken noodle soup packet and curry powder. Mix through and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the stock or water is reduced, add your gravy mix, stir in, then simmer until the sauce is thick enough to your liking.
Your savoury mince should be done and is now ready to serve.
Plate with rice, mash potato or on its own. Enjoy!
