The best BBQ sauce ever! Never use store-bought ever again!
This BBQ sauce is so good on chicken wings! Check out Bestest BBQ Wings, part of my wild wings range here:
Top quality BBQ sauce made from scratch!
It’s also fantastic on anything else. You can use BBQ sauce on chicken nuggets, steak etc. I use it as an ingredient in a few things, like sausage rolls and burgers. Check out Cheese and bacon Sausage Rolls and the Scrumdiddlyumptious Burger range here:
All the ingredients should be gluten-free, but the BBQ sauce and ketchup might not, so you should check the labels on the bottles if you can’t eat gluten.
Recipe
Makes 1.5 Litres
Ingredients
800 Millilitres BBQ Sauce
500 Millilitres Tomato Sauce (Ketchup)
150 Millilitres Sweet Soy Sauce (Kecap Manis )
800 Millilitres Cola
200 Millilitres Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tablespoon Smoked Paprika
50 Grams Chillies (Optional)
200 Grams Brown Onions
Directions
If the chilies are big, cut them in half. If they are small, like bird’s eyes, keep them whole. Bear in mind that the smaller the chilies, the spicier they are.
Roughly slice your onions into big slices.
Heat a tablespoon of oil in a big pot.
Once the oil is heated, add your chilies and onions.
Sauté until the onions are translucent.
Add all the remaining ingredients. Mix until thoroughly combined. I like to save the sauce bottles to store my BBQ sauce.
Cook until boiling, stirring occasionally.
Once boiling, let the sauce simmer, until it reduces with a consistency like store-brought BBQ sauce. Stir occasionally so that the bottom doesn’t burn. It can take 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Once the sauce is thick enough, take it off the heat and let it cool for 30 minutes.
Blend the sauce into a smooth paste using a stick blender.
Once cold, you can freeze it or directly use it. Make sure the mouth on the bottles are wide enough as there might still be some chunks of onion or chili left. Enjoy!
